Course Description
Ginger's approach to evaluation and treatment of the cervical spine and shoulder complex uses foundations of her PYT™ method to:
1. improve functional outcomes
2. prevent injury
3. provide a "preventive holistic" model for health care delivery
- Ginger's hands-on approach carefully deconstructs the biomechanics of the spine and shoulder complex within the context of the pose and breath.
- Her methods allow for immediate clinical application for the cervical spine and shoulder complex.
- Ginger's work is based on her longtime clinical experience and research in the field.
- This course equips the clinician with the skills to design programs in the clinic for acute, subacute, and chronic management .
- It will also teach functional application for optimizing ADL completion.
Audience PTs, OTs, ATC’s and other health care professionals dealing with ther cervical spine and shoulder complex management. Experienced yoga therapists and teachers are welcome. CEU’s Earned: 16 hours/1.6 CEU’s
Clinical Objectives
- Identify and understand clinically relevant biomechanics of the cervical spine and shoulder complex.
- Develop a working knowledge of PYT management to achieve optimal outcomes for the adult patient population.
- Identify and treat precursors of cervical spine and shoulder dysfunction.
- Describe & use the PYT model for evaluation through the use of the pose and the breath.
- Learn specific sequences to treat and prevent common impairments.
- Compare and contrast different common pathophysiologies and their interventions.
- Prioritize intervention choices based on the PYT evaluative model.
- Recommend treatment plans and self-management skills for selected patho-physiology and for prevention of injury.
Continuing Education Credits 16 hours
Prerequisites
Required: Lumbopelvic dialogues course; A prior personal practice in yoga of at least 6 months is required. For non licensed health care professionals, an RYT200 is required, and your RYT500 is preferable and highly recommended.
Recommended: Attendance at PYT I & II.
Prior clinical or studio experience in blending yoga and rehabilitation is beneficial.
