Ginger is the founder of PYTS, PYTTM , and Living Well, Inc. Living Well is a green company started to help shrink the chasm between eastern and western health care. Ginger is the author of the CYT, PYT, Childbirth Educator Certificate, and CE Programs here at PYTS and serves as Executive Director of PYTS and as President/CEO of Living Well, Inc.
As a licensed physical therapist, professional yoga therapist, certified athletic trainer, experienced yoga teacher, Pilates instructor, and Ayurvedic health educator with over 10,000 hours of teaching experience, Ginger's focus is education of health care professionals and experienced yoga therapists and teachers in integrating Yoga into rehabilitation settings and community wellness based programming. Ginger's passion for therapeutic healing has led her to study and apply her techniques in diverse venues of physical therapy and disciplines of Yoga through her 15 years of practice and study. Spiritual grounding and devotion anchors her belief that every person is capable of a richer and more fulfilling life through Yoga. Ginger studied and earned her license as an Athletic Trainer before earning her Master of Physical Therapy at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at UNC, Ginger also completed graduate work in the School of Public Health. Her work in the public health arena underscored her dedication to nurture the grass roots effort to empower the public about holistic, environmentally and socially responsible living.
Her teaching emphasizes the flowing meditation of thoughtful movement and complete pranayama within the framework of compassionate alignment of asana. Garner’s work in chronic pain has earned recognition in the International Journal of Yoga Therapy (2004 Vol. 14) as an effective modality for treating fibromyalgia, neck and back pain, as well as weight management and anxiety/panic disorders. She is a contributor and peer review editor to the International Journal of Yoga Therapy and Yoga Therapy in Practice. Her positively reviewed series of Yoga Therapy DVD's entitled: Ancient Yoga, New You, are modeled on her 18 month research study and over 5 years of focused work with kosha based treatment of chronic pain sufferers. Her most recent contribution was published in Yoga In America, and she is scheduled to complete a text in childbirth education.
